Are the monsters in Godzilla called kaiju?

In the original series of Godzilla movies created by Toho studios, the monstrous lizard and its ilk are referred to as Kaiju, a Japanese word that means ‘Strange Creature’. The word has since been used extensively in Asian pop culture when referring to giant animals in monster movies.

Are kaiju and Godzilla in the same universe?

No they are not. Both the the Monsterverse and Pacific Rimverse are two separate continuity. Other wise you would wind up seeing Godzilla commanding those kaiju and Jaeger getting destroyed by a blue nuclear ray.

Are all kaiju related?

All the kaiju movies and television shows that are connected to/related to Godzilla and/or King Kong. I am not including parodies, such as Queen Kong. Unless I state otherwise, they are a part of the same continuity.

Are the kaiju in Pacific Rim the same as Godzilla?
