Why is harp not popular?

Metal strings are used in 19th century but later on, they are replaced by nylon wires. Yet, harps are expensive and moreover they require more proficiency in handling rather than guitars. Guitars brought a drastic change in music world enabling easy to handle and play. Hence, harps extincted slowly.

Why isn’t the harp more popular?

My thoughts on this issue are that the reason harp isn’t more popular today is because it is an expensive, specialized instrument by nature. We as harpists must always be working to expose wider and greater audiences to our instrument with the goal of creating new audiences and bringing new young people and adult beginners into our world!

What is the difference between the piano and the harp?

The world of piano is simply exponentially larger than harp… there are more instrument manufacturers, and (importantly) more composers who write music for the instrument. Piano is extremely accessible; anyone can sit behind it and feel like they are making music. I do not believe the same can be said for harp.
