Why do people message you then block you?
Each time you visit Block Contacts, we’ll pull your list of contacts from your device so that you can pick who you would like to block. When you leave the feature, we’ll only keep the contact information for the people you have blocked (name, email and/or phone number).

They can still read your messages if Messenger blocked, just not reply. They can’t see your messages anymore if you blocked them fully. When blocked fully, your messages will be replaced with a ‘this user is not available’ text or similar instead.
