Why do different companies make the same GPU?

The card brands are based on who manufactures the actual graphics card the GPU sits on, which you put in the machine. They’ll vary in terms of aesthetics, what kind of heat dissipation they use (one fan, multiple fans, heat pipes, or regular aluminum heatsink, etc.).

Are there significant differences between different brands of the same GPU?

There will be variation of quality. Typically the high end models is said to have the higher binned chips. The difference between the brands is their gpu cooler and their aesthetics. Some model offer some features such as lighting, 3 fans, watercooled or a backplate.

Why do only 2 companies make GPUs?
