Why are the Star Wars prequels good?

Posted on August 28, 2022 by Author

Why are the Star Wars prequels good?

The Prequels built Star Wars far beyond what it originally was. The new concepts like ‘The Chosen One’, ‘The Sith’, ‘Balance in the force’ etc were great. They showed us what the galaxy had been like before, and what the Jedi had once been, and what they’d meant to the galaxy.

Are Star Wars prequels better?

Both the prequel and sequel trilogies have been remarkably controversial, but for all their flaws the prequels make a better trilogy. This is largely because they at least have a single creative vision behind them, and they do not conduct elaborate and jarring course-corrections.

Are the Star Wars prequels really that bad?

They are certainly weaker than the original films with some clunky dialogue, cringe-worthy acting and poor attempts at humour. The story and themes of the prequels goes far into how power can be corrupted from even good sources and, I would argue, are more interconnected with each other than the original films are.

Why do people think the prequels are good now?

It’s a combination of nostalgia with an inverse reaction to the vitriol the prequels have received over the years. Most of the prequel fans you run into are Millenials and Zoomers who were first exposed to the films as kids, and grew up loving them (sometimes even more than the original trilogy).

Why were Star Wars prequels bad?

The writing was bad, the character names were laughably on-the-nose, and the movies were too long. They were stuffed with action set-pieces that contributed little to the plot while leaving out critical scenes that provided much-needed depth.

Do people like Star Wars prequels?

Almost 12\% of Star Wars fans think the prequel films are the best. By far and away, the majority of Star Wars fans prefer the original trilogy, with 80.3\% of respondents indicating that the classic films are the best.

Why is the dialogue so bad in the prequels?

The biggest reason is that George Lucas tried to do everything himself, and Lucas is not known for his skill at writing dialog. Harrison Ford once confronted Lucas with the script, saying: “Maybe you can write this crap, George, but nobody can say it.” The prequels had very good actors.

Why Star Wars prequels have so many memes?

The novels and comics also provided even more backstory, tracing the story of the Sith back to the very ancient Masters of the Dark Side, like Marka Ragnos, Naga Sadow, Exar Kun, and so on. In short, the prequels were crucial to worldbuilding in Star Wars, an aspect that was mostly ignored in the original trilogy.
