What is the difference between VR and a 360 camera?

While Virtual Reality takes users into a digital world, 360 videos are live action, filming reality as it is seen at that moment. 360 videos are captured using special 360 degree cameras but can be viewed on any 360-compatible device, including various apps, smartphones, computers, and more.

Is a 360 camera a VR camera?

A VR camera offers an immersive viewing experience by capturing a 360-degree view of photos and videos. You can use a VR headset and smartphone for viewing, too, as the sensors in the headset cause the image to move in the appropriate direction.

How do 360 VR cameras work?

360 cameras use fish eye lenses to capture around 200 degrees of image per lens. Combined each lens will capture around 400 degrees which, obviously, includes some overlap. After the footage is captured software will work out where this overlap is and work to make the image seamless.

How does a VR work?
