What is injection capacity in injection molding?

Posted on August 30, 2022 by Author

What is injection capacity in injection molding?

Shot Capacity is the maximum volume/weight of material that the screw can inject into one operation cycle. The shot capacity is also known as “Injection Capacity”. The shot weight of a product is the amount of material required to be injected into the mold to manufacture the product, including the feed system.

How do you calculate the shot capacity of an injection molding machine?

Multiply machine shot by 1.4 if maximum injection screw stroke is greater than or equal to four. For example, if machine shot is 200 grams and maximum injection screw stroke is four, the result is 280. Divide the result by the melt density for polystyrene. For example, 280 divided by 100 grams is 2.8.

How do you calculate tonnage for injection molding?

T = A x cf. For example, the projected area of the molded part is 150 sq/in times a clamp factor of 3 (tonnage needed/square inch from material data sheet). 150 x 3 = 450 tons needed. If you are running in a 500-ton press, try starting at 450 tons.

What is tonnage of injection molding machine?

If you have a part that is 120 square inches, you would need a injection machine with 300 tons clamping tonnage for injection molding. After added 10\% safety factor, the required press size would be 330 tons of clamping force. Then you will need a 330 ton injection molding machine for your project.

What is barrel capacity in injection molding?

Barrel residence time is the time the resin spends from the first inception into the injection barrel until it leaves through the end of the nozzle. Barrel capacity is generally rated by the amount of polystyrene they can inject in one shot and is usually rated in ounces or grams.

How do you calculate capacity?

Process Capacity

  1. They are calculated by means of the following formula:
  2. Human capacity = actual working hours x attendance rate x direct labor rate x equivalent manpower.
  3. Machine capacity = operating hours x operating rate x the number of machine.

How do you calculate Mould size for a plastic component?

The first step in determining appropriate clamp tonnage is to calculate the surface area of the part. This simply means getting the square inch area of the cavity by multiplying the length by the width. If it is a multi-cavity mold, multiply the number by the number of cavities.

How do you calculate the weight of plastic?

 The mass of the piece of plastic = density × volume = 1.18 g/cm3 × 50.0 cm3 = 59 g = 0.059 kg. Step 4: Calculate weight with the acceleration due to gravity. The weight (N) = mass (kg) × acceleration due to gravity (m/s2). On Earth the weight would be 0.059 kg × 9.81 m/s2 = 0.58 N.

How do you calculate production capacity of a machine?

Production capacity can be calculated based on a single type of product or a mix of products….The formula used to calculate production capacity is:

  1. Factory machine capacity in hours divided by.
  2. Product SAM (how long it takes to produce one unit of product)
  3. Line efficiency (Average)

What is the plasticizing capacity of injection molding?

The plasticizing capacity is the volume of injectable molten plastic resin that can be prepared in unit time, and this affects the volume of the molded article that can be prepared. Some injection molding machine manufacturers may marked as Shot Weight, Shot size.

What are the different units of injection molding machine?

Injection Molding Machine`s Specifications mostly includes four units: Clamping Unit, Injection Unit, Hydraulic Unit, and Electric Unit. And there are many main index parameters in each unit.

How to calculate total injection molding production cycle time calculation formula?

Total injection molding production cycle time calculation formula: T=Ti + Tp + +Ts + Tm + Tc + To +Te Ti: Total Injection Time/Filling Time Tp: Total Pressurized Holding Time

Can I use PP or ABS for injection molding?

Molding machine manufacturers usually specify the injection capacity of an injection unit in terms of General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS). But what if the material you want to use is something else such as PP or ABS? Each material has its own unique melt density which changes the injection capacity available to a specific injection unit.
