What happened to the third Silmaril?
The three Silmarils had different eventual fates. One was recovered by Beren and Luthien: this stone was later taken to the Valar in the West by their descendant Earendil, as a token of repentance. The returned Silmaril was set into the sky by the Valar where it shone as a star.
