All students, regardless of their financial need, may work during the academic year—and most of our students do. Per federal regulations, students participating in a federal work-study program are not permitted to miss class time in order to perform their federal work-study duties.

How long is a semester at MIT?
There will be 64 class days in total, 14 weeks of instruction, a four-day reading period, and five-day final examination period. To enable returning students to test for Covid-19 and to quarantine, all instruction (graduate and undergraduate) will be delivered remotely during the first week of classes (September 1-7).
