Chopsticks are considered a more civilised way to eat. It isn’t easier to eat rice with a spoon unless you are used to eating with a spoon and unaccustomed to using chopsticks. I never eat rice with a spoon; I always opt for chopsticks (sticky/Asian rice) or a fork (long grain/fluffy rice).
