Can you be smart but get bad grades?
Most smart people get good grades. This should be fairly self-evident. What is however sadly common is that smart people often get poor, or at least poor for them, grades in sporadic courses, or upon making a ‘difficulty’ jump – from elementary to high school, to a new grade, or to college/university.
Do you have to be good at school to be smart?
Part of the problem with “smart” is that it’s a pretty ambiguous term. According to Marium Webster, smart means “mentally alert” or “knowledgeable,” but this doesn’t take into effect the connotations of the word. Generally it’s someone who’s good at school: a high achiever who earns good grades.
Do grades correlate with IQ?
(i) Grades, scores on achievement tests, and IQ are strongly positively correlated but not perfectly so. This strong correlation gives purchase to the view that the three measures can be used interchangeably. (ii) Grades and scores on achievement tests are differentially influenced by IQ and personality.
Do intelligent people always get good grades?
Intelligent people often earn good grades. But some intelligent people don’t earn good grades or go to college. The definition of smart is the ability to achieve one’s goals with relatively little effort compared to peers. Good grades are not every intelligent person’s goal.
Why do smart students fail?
Many students lack confidence, and as a result, they are unable to complete their tasks and lose marks. Another factor for exam failure is a lack of self-esteem to take them on and work on them. Being prepared on test day is the best approach to avoid unnecessary stress.
How a weak student become intelligent?
Attend classes in an attentive manner: Weak students to perform well academically must attend classes in an attentive manner. When they pay attention to what is being taught in the class, they register the concepts well and are able to compete with the intelligent students.
Do grades matter in life?
Grades do matter. There may be flaws in many grading systems, sometimes in the education system itself, but letters and numbers do still hold value. It may be a tough truth to swallow, but you’re only hurting yourself if you pretend like grades don’t matter.
Do average grades mean you won’t succeed in college?
Just because a student has average grades in high school doesn’t mean he or she won’t succeed in college. My son was an average high school student, graduating with a GPA that was just shy of 3.0.

Are there any good schools for average students?
There are thousands of excellent schools that will admit average students and offer them the growth experiences and education that are the reasons to attend a college or university in the first place. My son was fortunate to be accepted to one of those universities.
Is it possible to survive as an average student?
