Can a sword cut a helmet?

Can a sword cut through anything?
No sword ever could cut through metal armor, at best it would scratch it. Metal armor was very effective and it made cutting useless the only way to fight against it is to seek the weak-spots and try and pierce through them or to take a mace,war-hammer, pole-axe or a similar weapon and whack it real hard.

Yes, provided the cut is done with proper technique. Pretty much any cut centric sword can. It can also glance off as the skull is rather deflective, but connect properly and yes, it can.
