they love em. If it wasn’t for EMT’s and Medics the law enforcement officers killed would be higher, and they know it. They often do charity together. And there is a rivalry that depends on location.
Are EMTs respected?
Yes. In truth, the public loves EMTs, and they are happy to extend their respect to them whenever they encounter them.
Do police have medics?
TEMS providers are sometimes sworn police officers cross trained as paramedics, paramedics that are operators trained and integrated into the SWAT Team, or medical providers trained in tactical EMS who are then integrated into law enforcement or military units.
Can EMTs have tattoos?
EMS agencies prefer ‘no visible tattoos. If you do have tattoos, you may be required to wear long sleeves while on duty. Just because your tattoos aren’t hateful or discriminatory doesn’t mean they’re not offensive.
Is it harder to become a firefighter or police officer?
Police academies are usually longer. An average police academy is closer to six months, where a fire academy is more like 3-4 months. Though the training for both doesn’t end after the academy is done. There is much more to be learned on the job for either profession.

The tactical medic then calls the local EMS transport provider to have an ALS ambulance stage close to the location. Most times if EMS is notified beforehand, they are welcome into the briefing. The local EMS crews are given instructions and a communications plan.
What is it like to be a tactical medic?
There are many skills sessions and tactical/ medical scenarios to test the knowledge learned under stressful conditions. The Tactical Medic is the logical liaison to the on-scene EMS assets that support law enforcement operations. Typically the Tactical Medic will have a face-to-face meeting with EMS supporting units if they are available.
