What equipment should an EMT carry on duty?

A handful of gloves, a tourniquet, emesis bag, trauma shears, penlight, pens, notebook, flashlight. I keep it light but have many of the essentials that might be needed on the spot when there isn’t immediate access to the stuff in the ambulance.

Most EMS departments provide EMT stethoscopes in the ambulances/equipment bags to be used by the EMTs and Paramedics on shift.

The most gear that they carry are trauma shears and a small pouch for gloves. Most carry a small pocket knife or multi tool (Leatherman). When I’m on duty, I carry a small flashlight in my pocket, a pouch on my belt with two pairs of rubber gloves and a Leatherman Raptor tool clipped to my back pocket.
