Do cops and paramedics get along?

A lot would depend on where the EMTs and police are. Some departments are more territorial or isolationist than others. Speaking for my own area, police, fire and EMS get along very well. We all have different parts of public safety we are responsible for with a little overlap.

Ultimately, emergency medical responders and law enforcement officers have the same goals: to keep people safe, mitigate harm and bring order to chaos. When all those in different agencies work well together, the best possible outcomes will occur.

In the performance of their duties, paid and volunteer EMTs can be called to the scene of gunshot wounds, stabbings, and other police-related jobs.

Why do police go to fires?

If it’s a fire, officers can cordon off the area and get bystanders out of the way or help evacuate a house (yep, that’s a problem many times, people are too dumb to either leave a house that’s on fire or they will crowd around a burning house and get in the way) so other emergency responders can get in there.
