Are the Noldor Elves?
The Noldor were the Second Clan of the Elves in both order and size, the other clans being the Vanyar, a smaller group, and the Teleri, a much larger one. The Noldor typically had grey eyes and dark hair, save for the members of the golden-haired House of Finarfin.
What happened to the Sindar Elves?
Many Sindar lived in Mithrim and the Falas, and some still wandered in the forests. The Sindar were somewhat scorned but respected by the Ñoldorin exiles who returned to Middle-earth to found great realms and wage war against the Dark Lord Morgoth.
What happened to the teleri?
The Teleri long remained on Tol Eressëa, and their language changed in different ways from that of the Vanyar and Ñoldor. Much later the Teleri learned to build ships, and finally made it to Aman. It is recounted that the Teleri eventually forgave the Ñoldor for the Kinslaying, and the two kindreds were at peace again.
Is Galadriel an Noldor?
She was a royal Elf of both the Noldor and the Teleri, being a grandchild of both King Finwë and King Olwë. Tolkien describes Galadriel as “the mightiest and fairest of all the Elves that remained in Middle-earth” (after the death of Gil-galad) and the “greatest of elven women”.
Are the sindar Moriquendi?
Moriquendi is a term for the Avarin, Sindarin, and Nandorin Elves, but in practice is only applied to the Avari. An exception to the hierarchy of Elvish peoples is Thingol, who, though he did not complete the journey, had earlier been to Valinor.
What did the Noldor look like?
Physical appearance. The Noldor are tall and physically strong. Their hair colour is usually a very dark shade of brown; Tolkien hesitated over whether their hair might be black. Red and even white (“silver”) hair occasionally exist among some individuals.

Why are there so few Noldor in The Lord of the Rings?
So by the time of the events of the Lord of the Rings, the reason that there are so few Noldor around is that most of them have gone back to Valinor after being pardoned. Indeed the last elves to leave Middle-Earth are Noldor (Galadriel and Elrond).
Are the Noldor the proudest of the Elves?
The Noldor are considered to be the proudest of the Elves as they take great pride in their abilities: by the words of the Sindar, “they needed room to quarrel in”. On the other hand, the negative aspect of their pride sometimes manifests as an arrogance that plagued the Noldor and later caused them great suffering.
How did the Noldor cross the sea to Middle-earth?
The Noldor led by Fëanor crossed the sea to Middle-earth, leaving those led by Fingolfin, his half-brother, behind. Upon his arrival in Middle-earth, Fëanor had the ships burned. When the Noldor led by Fingolfin discovered their betrayal, they went farther north and crossed the sea at the Grinding Ice at the cost of many lives.
What happened to the Elves of Middle-earth?
The Elves awoke at Cuiviénen, on the Sea of Helcar (right) in Middle-earth, and migrated westwards towards Valinor in Aman, some not arriving there.
