Can a body have zero displacement and non zero velocity?

Can a body have zero displacement and non zero velocity?

Yes it is possible for a body to have zero displacement but non zero velocity. This would be the case for example of a body moving in in circular motion. Every time the object returns to its original position, its displacement will be zero.

Is it possible to have a zero displacement but a non zero distance?

One-dimensional motion cannot have zero distance with a nonzero displacement. Displacement has both magnitude and direction, but it can have zero displacement with nonzero distance because distance has only magnitude and any motion will be the distance it moves.

Can a body have zero velocity and non-zero acceleration explain with an example?

A body may have zero velocity but non-zero acceleration. For example, when a body is thrown vertically upwards at the maximum height the body momentarily comes to rest. At this point the body attains zero ation due to gravity directed downward.

In which of the following cases would a body have zero displacement but non-zero distance is its journey?

Answer: example :- when a body travels in circular path, after covering a circle the distance cannot be zero, but its displacement is zero.

Can an object have zero displacement?

Yes. an object which has moved through a distance can have zero displacement if it comes back to its initial position.

Can you have zero displacement and a non zero average velocity can you have a zero displacement and a non zero velocity illustrate your answer on a XT graph?

Yes, one can have zero displacement and a nonzero average velocity as well as zero displacement and nonzero velocity.

Can a body have zero velocity but acceleration?

Yes, a body with a velocity 0 can still accelerate. The simplest example is a body which is thrown up. At the peak point its velocity becomes 0 but still accelerates due to gravity.

Can a body have zero velocity but still have acceleration?

Yes, an object can have zero velocity and still be accelerating simultaneously. Then the object will start to move in the backward direction.

Can displacement be zero explain?

yes, displacement can be zero. displacement is the shortest distance between initial position and final position. but, as the initial and final position are same and distance between your home and home is zero, hence displacement is zero.

Can a body with zero displacement have acceleration?

If the body moves with constant speed without changing the direction, the acceleration of the body is zero. Yes , the body have acceleration with zero velocity.

Is it possible to have a moving body with zero displacement but covering a large distance?

Answer: yes it is possible. If the body moves in circular motion: If the body moves in circular motion , covers a large distance and comes back to its initial point , its displacement would be zero but not the distance.

Can a body with zero speed have non zero velocity Why?

(b) False. Speed is the magnitude of velocity and the magnitude of non-zero velocity cannot be zero. If the initial velocity of a body is negative, then even in case of positive acceleration, the body speeds down. A body speeds up when the acceleration acts in the direction of motion.
