Is it cheating to edit your art?
Everything an artist uses as a tool is used to work the art, and tools are tools, not cheating. Cheating would be if you used someone else’s work and presented it as your own.
Is it okay to edit someone’s art?
Yes… you are just manipulating someone else’s work. Ask permission to use it or purchase rights to use it. Or take your own and do the editing.
Is defacing art illegal?
Works of art that are covered by VARA may not be destroyed, mutilated, distorted, or modified in a way that would undermine the reputation of the artist. Even a person who purchases this type of work for their collection does not have a right to destroy or modify it without the consent of the artist.
Is it legal to sell fan art?
