Some people do it because they are insecure or jealous. They are trying to feel better about themselves by putting you down. Some do it because they are trying to impress someone or get attention. Sometimes people aren’t really trying to be mean or hurt your feelings.
What is a pleaser personality?
The people pleaser personality type is desperate to feel important and needed. Their lack of self worth, confidence and self-belief, makes it almost impossible for them to set and maintain healthy boundaries with others.

Is it okay if someone is better at something than you?
It’s okay if someone is better than you. Some of the less famous singers and artists also happen to be some of my absolute favorites! I find the less famous people extremely fascinating, even though they didn’t make it as far up the ladder in their field. The question to ask yourself is: do you actually enjoy what you do?
Why do some people need to be better than others?
Through having the need to be better than others, one could just come across as being highly competent in one area of their life or a number of areas. In this case, one could end up being admired by others and come across as an example to follow.

When one is motivated to be better than others, there is the chance that they will be unaware of the fact that being better or worse is nothing more than an illusion. And how it is something they have created in their mind and not something that reflects reality.
Can you do anything better than your friends?
Chances are you can do at least one thing better than your friends. No matter what this thing is, embrace it and do your very best. The point is not to prove to your friends that you are better than them, but rather to prove to yourself that you are worthy and unique.
