Why has my package been in Customs for a week?

Often, shipments are held up in customs to check that the contents of the package and the value of the goods were declared accurately. There is little that can be done to stop or speed up these random checks and attempts to such may just be a waste of time.

How long can a package be in Customs?

As we highlighted earlier, sometimes packages can be held up at the ISC or at Customs for anywhere between a week, 10 days, or even a little bit more than that.

Why is USPS Customs taking so long?

Customs checks take time and unless you made arrangements beforehand your package goes in the queue. The USPS handles more packages per day than Fedex, UPS and DHL combined and those carriers all have special systems in place to move packages through customs fast while USPS packages take the slow route.
