How do submarines not crash?

They are actually underwater mountains. If a US submarine knows precisely where it is, it will never strike an underwater mountain because the United States Navy has the best, most up to date sea charts of any Navy in the world. However, they need to use their most accurate means of navigation, on board.

Submarines carry an inertial navigation system , which measures the boat’s motion and constantly updates position. Because it does not rely on radio signals or celestial sightings, it allows the boat to navigate while remaining hidden under the surface.

How far do submarines go underwater?

Hulls are special structures in a submarine to hold water in them which help the submarine to maintain buoyancy underwater. The deepest a submarine can go is about 3 km underwater(I dunno if modern technology has surpassed that level or whatever).
